What to Expect: Your IV Sedation Journey
Understanding the IV sedation process can help ease any remaining nerves before your appointment. Often referred to as "twilight sedation," this method allows you to enter a state of deep relaxation.
Preparation: You will typically be asked to fast (no food or drink) for 6 to 8 hours before your procedure. It is essential to arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home, as the effects can linger.
The Procedure: A small IV line is placed, usually in your hand or arm. The sedative enters your bloodstream directly, taking effect within just a minute or two. While you remain conscious and able to respond to verbal cues, you will feel a wave of calm and may even drift into a light sleep.
Recovery: Most patients wake up with little to no memory of the treatment. You may feel groggy for a few hours afterward, so we recommend resting for the remainder of the day.
